Care sheet for the Anthurium clarinervium Matuda

Please note : these are practical tips that I have gathered from several gardening sites. I myself am not a botanist. These are non-exhaustive advice, since each plant will react differently depending on its environment. If your plant is doing very well and your care does not follow this sheet to the letter, don't change anything. Be attentive to the moods of your plants before anything else !

Obviously, those are the same care advice as for almost each Anthurium.

It will be particularly afraid of hard water. Use rainwater or deionized water. Also for cleaning it.

Family : Araceae

Exposure : Bright - no direct sun.

Flowering : from September / October to March. You can cut the flower so that it does not use too much of the plant's energy.

Mist : regularly throughout the year, more in summer, and in winter if there is heating. This will keep thrips and mites away in addition to providing it with a little humidity and washing its leaves (if it's with rainwater).

Humidity : Place clay balls at the bottom of its pot. Also in a larger bowl under the pot (but you can also put wet chippings in it).

Watering in spring / summer : once a week, the substrate should be very close to being dry; you can shower it.

Watering in autumn / winter : every 10-14 days, the soil must be very dry.

Temperature : Ideal between 18-22 °. Must not drop below 15 ° nor rise above 30 °.

Repotting : In the spring every two years if the plant is cramped (roots sticking out)

Soil : Rich, potting soil for green plants or houseplant, drained with clay balls and 1/3 peat; the best being an intermediate araceous mixture, 25% potting soil (preferably organic), 25% sphagnum moss, 40% coconut bark (between 10 and 20 mm) and 10% perlite (20% if your climate is rather temperate / cool). Terracotta pot to let the roots breathe well.

Liquid fertilizer : if used, from April to September once a month, then stop completely from October to April. Useless if the soil is recent and already contains fertilizer (wait at least a month). Liquid fertilizer should always be administered on a soil previously watered.

Concerns :

-The borders are drying out : the air is too dry.

-The leaves turn yellow and are soft : excess watering. Wait until the substrate is dry before watering again.

Prone to mites and mealybugs.

Depolluting

To know : poisonous plant. Attention to children & animals. Watch out for drafts.

There is a lot of care and advice that generally applies to almost all houseplants, such as avoiding drafts, putting clay balls at the bottom of the pot, avoiding installing near springs heat, avoid direct sun ... To find out about them, I advise you to read my article Basic tips for indoor plants. Otherwise, generally speaking, the articles on the Basic Tips page.

Flower :)

Some traces of limestone ! This is why it's strongly advised to avoid it !
